Scientific Background
The rationale of ProteoMediX's scientific approach is based on the assumption that cancer-specific proteins mirror disrupted cellular networks. It has been shown already that molecular signatures can be detected in tissues and that these are capable of diagnosing early stage disease, distinguishing similar diseases from one another, and identifying those diseases which respond to current therapy from those that do not.
The protein domain is the most ubiquitously affected in disease, response and recovery. Thus, proteomics holds special promise for biomarker discovery. The development of novel protein biomarkers is the focus of ProteoMediX.
