Prof. Dr. Ruedi Aebersold is one of the pioneers in the field of proteomics. He is known for developing a series of methods that have found wide application in analytical protein chemistry and proteomics. In 2000 he co-founded the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, US, and in 2005 the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology at the ETH Zurich. Ruedi Aebersold also serves on the Scientific Advisory Committees of numerous academic and private sector research organizations and is a member of several editorial boards in the fields of protein science, genomics, and proteomics.
Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Krek is a world-leader in cancer cell signaling and a full professor of cell biology at ETH Zurich since 2003. Earlier he worked at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI), Basel and at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School in Boston. Wilhelm Krek is also co-founder and Chairman of the Competence Center for Systems Physiology and Metabolic Diseases (CC-SPMD), a joint center of ETH and University-Hospital Zurich in medical systems biology.
Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Cerny graduated from the Medical School of the University in Berne, Switzerland, where he also became Professor for Medical Oncology. Since 1998 Prof. Cerny is Head of Medical Oncology-Hematology Department at the Kantonsspital in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Currently Prof. Cerny is also President of the Swiss Cancer League and member of numerous international cancer associations, aiming to develop new diagnostics and medications for cancer patients.
